Whew.  I’m super excited about finally moving to the east side of Portland.  For the past 9 or so months, I’ve been biking back and forth from the east to the west at least once a day - which, don’t get me wrong, I totally enjoy, because it allows me to ride my bike.  However, there’s a ton of construction happening along SW Moody, and while I’ve been curious and excited to see what’s going on, it creates a constant worry for me as I ride my bike over gravel, street car tracks, broken glass, and various other potentially flat-inducing debris.
So this morning I decided to investigate finally.  Crews are completely rebuilding this roadway, which will be elevated and will include 3 traffic lanes, 2-way street-car traffic, a cycle track, as well as a separate sidewalk.  This is exciting news!  Because right now, the bicycle detour is a disaster.  The project should be “substantially complete” by the March 2012 (http://swmoodyproject.com/schedule/).
